Qatar-Singapore relation


The Embassy of the state of Qatar plays an important role of strengthening the bilateral relations between Qatar and Singapore, and enhance the cooperation between the two countries in various fields. The Embassy also coordinates mutual formal visits between the officials of the two countries.

The bilateral relations between the two countries has seen many developments over the years, in 2006, The Qatar-Singapore High Commission was established, with a view to strengthening the cooperation between the two countries, and through it a several bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding by the two countries were signed, an agreement in the field of air transport services was signed, a memorandum of understanding for the development of private cultural awareness in Diplomatic Singaporean Academy, in order to spread and deepen cultural understanding in the Middle East, a memorandum of understanding on the implementation of training programs for the Asia-Middle East dialogue, regional training of public administration in Qatar Center, a memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation, and a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the environmental field.

On 5th of July 2009, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Father Emir, issued a decree to legalize the free trade agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Republic of Singapore. At present, Qatar is in third place among the largest of Singapore's trading partners between (GCC) countries, and Qatar- Singapore relations is witnessing regular exchange of high level visits, as the officials of both sides arrange mutual visits from time to time.

  The Embassy also monitors the conditions of Qatari nationals in Singapore and provides  assistance to them during their stay  in the Republic of Singapore, it also offers consular services, such as attestation of the documents and the issuing of visas.
